How clowns die (2025) - 8’30’’

for flutes and cello (or double bass)/balloons performer

Programme notes

How clowns die is part of the cycle Kindergarten, a microcosmos where I aim to investigate and transfigure archetypes and cultural references of the children’s world (songs, games, fairy tales, etc.), designing the music with a colour palette modelled primarily on the sounds of toys and the intonation of children's voices.

I explore childhood as a sort of pretext to unveil collateral aspects that involve humankind. The art of clowning offers comic scenes, but not without a poetic or even tragic undertone. Clowns sink into their own interiority, crumpling it to make room for a new identity.
